Immerse yourself in a unique series of creative workshops that delve into the rich lives and stories of first-generation Bangladeshi-Australian women living in Victoria. Led by Mita Chowdhury, a Melbourne-based visual artist and PhD student, this project offers a heartfelt exploration of identity and migration through art and community.
These workshops are designed for those with similar migrant journeys or anyone interested in cultural storytelling and creative expression. Each session encourages participants to share, create, and connect in a supportive environment.
Expect engaging activities that blend personal storytelling with artistic creation, fostering a sense of belonging and cultural pride.
- The workshops run fortnightly, each lasting two hours.
- Scheduled dates are: 2026-02-19, 2026-03-05, 2026-03-19, 2026-04-02, and 2026-04-16.
- Sessions take place in the evenings from 18:00 to 21:00.
- The format is a workshop/course/seminar focusing on creative arts.
Participants should be adults and the activity is free of charge, making it accessible to all interested.
The workshops are held both online and at the Tarneit Community Learning Centre, located at 150 Sunset Views Boulevard, Tarneit VIC 3029. This dual format allows for flexible participation whether you prefer to join from home or attend in person.
The Tarneit Community Learning Centre is easily accessible by public transport and offers a welcoming space for community activities.
Online sessions will be conducted via a digital platform, with details provided upon registration.
This project is led by Mita Chowdhury, who brings personal experience and academic insight into the themes of migration and identity.
