Activity Details
The Aussie Backyard Bird Count runs from Monday, 20 October 2025, through Sunday, 26 October 2025. Participants are encouraged to complete as many 20-minute bird surveys as they can during this week.
For those wanting expert guidance, free bird walks are available:
- Woodridge Linear Reserve on 7 October 2025
- Eyrie Reserve on 21 October 2025
These walks provide tips from experienced biodiversity officers, perfect for families and children eager to learn more about local bird species.
Location and Access
You can participate from your own yard, street, or visit any local reserve in Nillumbik Shire. Popular reserves include Woodridge Linear Reserve and Eyrie Reserve, where guided bird walks will be held.

Participation in the Aussie Backyard Bird Count is completely free. No booking is required for the general bird counting.
