Join a powerful and honest conversation about supporting the mental health of Autistic young people. Hear directly from Autistic youth alongside a psychologist, advocate, and parents as they explore what helps, what doesn’t, and common misunderstandings.
This event welcomes Autistic young people, their parents, and allies, focusing on respectful, practical, and effective support. Expect an inclusive environment where different ways of being and communicating are embraced.
The setting may include background conversations, movement around the room, and people engaging in stimming or creative activities, all intentionally supporting diverse participation styles.
Activity Details
The panel features Gina Berry (host and Autistic young person), Max Smallie and Charlie Bruford (Autistic young people), Sandhya Menon (Educational and Behavioural Psychologist), and Mel Spencer OAM (Autistic advocate and CEO).
The discussion will cover practical strategies to support mental health, share lived experiences, and help shape more meaningful support systems for Autistic young people.
This event is designed to be sensory-friendly with mixed seating, sensory and fidget tools, snacks, refreshments, and a dedicated Quiet Space. Attendees are encouraged to bring comfort items such as headphones or communication devices.

Held at Boroondara Youth Hub, Level 1, 360 Burwood Road, Hawthorn VIC 3122.
Convenient parking is available behind the Hawthorn Arts Centre in James Street, including two accessible bays 55 metres from the entrance.
Public transport options include Glenferrie Station (250m away) served by Alamein, Belgrave, and Lilydale lines; Route 16 tram stop at Burwood Rd & Glenferrie Rd (approx. 25m away); and bus routes 302, 304, 624 with the nearest stop on Auburn Road (approx. 1km away).
