Dive into an immersive experience that highlights the importance of water for survival, connection, and wellbeing. This workshop begins with a calming river meditation led by Linda Sainsbury, inviting you to create a symbolic river and reflect on the ancient waterways of the Parramatta region.
Following this, artist Benjamin Akuila will guide you through a hands-on workshop teaching how to craft a durable water bottle carrier using macrame and survival-grade paracord. This session combines creativity with practical survival skills in a welcoming, inclusive environment.
Perfect for young people eager to connect with nature, culture, and practical art, this event offers a unique blend of reflection and skill-building.
The workshop is designed for participants aged 14 to 25 and runs for three hours. It includes:
- A guided river meditation focused on First Nations cultural connections
- A practical macrame workshop to make a reusable water bottle carrier
- Opportunities to engage with the history and healing power of local river systems
This event is part of the Bare Skills series, which offers art and survival workshops every two months at Parramatta Artists Studios.
