What to Expect
Experience the joy of giving back to nature by joining the BERG Coastal Working Bees at Mount Martha Foreshore. This is a wonderful opportunity for families to connect with the environment and teach children the importance of biodiversity conservation. Volunteers of all experience levels are welcome, with friendly support staff providing guidance and tools.
Activities include planting, weeding, and caring for local bushland and foreshore reserves. It’s a hands-on way to engage with your community and make a positive environmental impact.
Please wear sturdy closed-toe shoes, long pants, long sleeves, and a hat to protect yourself while working outdoors. Don’t forget to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated during the morning session.
Activity Details
The working bees run monthly on the first Wednesday from 09:00 to 10:30 AM. Each session involves practical conservation tasks tailored to the needs of the local environment. No prior experience is necessary as all training and equipment are provided.
Sessions may be cancelled or rescheduled due to extreme weather, Total Fire Ban days, or public holidays, so it’s best to check ahead before attending.
This is a free community event supported by Mornington Peninsula Shire and facilitated by the Balcombe Estuary Reserve Group (BERG).
Location and Access
The meeting point varies for each working bee along Mount Martha Foreshore Reserve, located at 135 Mount Martha Beach South Off Esplanade, Mount Martha. It is recommended to contact the group to confirm the exact location before your first visit.
The foreshore reserve offers beautiful natural surroundings and easy access for families. Parking and public transport options are available nearby.
Important Information
Volunteers should come prepared with appropriate clothing and footwear for outdoor work. Closed-toe shoes are mandatory; thongs or sandals are not permitted.
Bring your own water bottle to stay hydrated. Tools and gloves will be provided, and friendly staff will be on hand to assist.
Please be aware that sessions may be cancelled at short notice due to weather or fire risk conditions. Check the event status if uncertain.
