Experience a magical evening walk alongside the Birrarung River, guided by Ben from the Council's Bushland Team. This family-friendly event invites you to look and listen for the fascinating wildlife that call the Birrarung home. Children are welcome, but parental supervision is required to ensure a safe and enjoyable outing.
The walk takes place on a narrow track that mostly allows single file walking, so it's a great opportunity to slow down and immerse yourself in nature's evening sounds and sights. Remember to bring a torch or head torch to light your way as the sun sets.
Please wear sturdy boots and appropriate clothing such as a raincoat or jacket to stay comfortable in the outdoor environment.
This short guided walk is part of the 2025 Birrarung Riverfest, a vibrant celebration featuring over 60 events from 6 to 28 September. The Riverfest offers a variety of activities including riverside walks, cleanups, creative workshops, and paddling adventures, making it perfect for families looking to connect with nature and community.
The Birrarung Night Walk is scheduled for Wednesday, 24 September 2025, from 18:00 to 20:00. It is a free event, making it accessible for all families eager to explore the local environment.
Please note that the walking track is not wheelchair friendly, so this event is best suited for those able to navigate narrow paths.
The walk starts at Dee Road, Millgrove, VIC 3799. This location offers a beautiful riverside setting perfect for a peaceful evening stroll.
Participants are encouraged to respect the natural landscape by staying on the designated path throughout the walk. The area is mostly single file, so please be mindful of others and the environment.
