Dive into the world of storytelling with your young writer in this engaging club designed specifically for children aged 8 to 12 years. This is the perfect opportunity for mid to upper primary students who are eager to write independently and share their own stories. Each session encourages creativity and self-expression through a variety of curated writing activities.
Children will be inspired to come up with their own ideas and creative projects, fostering a love for writing in a supportive environment. New attendees are always welcome, making it a great way for your child to meet peers with similar interests.
Bring along a notebook to capture those brilliant ideas, while note paper and pencils will be provided. If your child prefers, they can also bring their own pencil case or a laptop/tablet to aid their writing.
The Young Writers' Club meets monthly on the fourth Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 4:45 PM. The sessions are carefully structured to help children develop their writing skills progressively throughout the school terms.
Scheduled dates for Terms 1 and 2 in 2026 are:
- 25 February
- 25 March
- 27 May
- 24 June
Each session requires booking in advance to secure a spot. The library plans to compile submitted works into an anthology, which will be available for borrowing, giving children a wonderful opportunity to see their work published.
The club is held at Burnside Library, located at 401 Greenhill Road, Tusmore, 5065. The library is easily accessible and provides a welcoming space for children to explore their creativity.
Parents can drop off their children and enjoy the convenience of a central community location. The library also offers parking and is accessible by public transport.
Bookings are essential for each session to ensure a place in this popular club. Children should bring a notebook, and while note paper and pencils are provided, personal writing tools and devices are welcome.
This club is recommended for children aged 8-12 years who are keen on writing independently and sharing their stories. It’s a fantastic way to nurture your child's writing talents in a fun and supportive setting.
