This award-winning community event is perfect for families wanting to responsibly recycle items that are too small or problematic for your kerbside bin. Bring your tricky-to-recycle plastics, metals, and household waste for safe disposal.
You'll find a friendly atmosphere where you can drop off items like plastic bottle tops, bread tags, metal lids, and even medicinal blister packs. It's a great way to teach children about sustainability and recycling.
Volunteers and staff are on hand to guide you through the process and answer any questions about recycling and waste reduction.
The event runs monthly from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on selected Saturdays throughout 2026 and early 2027. No bookings are necessary, making it easy to fit into your weekend plans.
Accepted items include:
- Plastic bottle tops, bread tags, can clips, contact lens cases, straws, soy sauce fish, tripper pumps
- Steel and aluminium bottle tops and lids, aluminium can ring pulls
- Corks, metal keys, oral care waste (household amounts)
- Pens, markers, highlighters, disposable razors
- Medicinal asthma inhalers and blister packs (fees apply)
There is also a Give Write donation box for community support.
Held at the City of Melville EcoHub, located at 555 Leach Highway, Winthrop WA 6150, this venue is easily accessible by car with ample parking.
The EcoHub is a community-focused facility dedicated to sustainability and environmental education, making it a fitting location for this recycling initiative.

This event is free to attend, though a gold coin donation is greatly appreciated to support ongoing sustainability efforts.
Batteries, light bulbs, phones, and chargers can also be dropped off at the EcoHub recycling hub year-round.
Additional drop-off points for batteries and hazardous waste are available at local grocery stores and household hazardous waste facilities.
Please prepare your items by removing springs from tripper pumps and separating them into containers before arrival.
No booking is required for this drop-off event, making it convenient for busy families.
The event is free to attend, with donations welcomed to help maintain and expand community recycling programs.
This is a wonderful opportunity to reduce household waste responsibly without any cost or hassle.
