This award-winning community event offers a fantastic opportunity for families to responsibly recycle items that are too small or problematic for kerbside bins. It's a great way to teach children about sustainability and waste reduction while making a positive impact on the environment.
At Bottle Top Hill, you can drop off a variety of tricky-to-recycle items including plastic bottle tops, bread tags, can clips, contact lens cases, and more. The event also accepts steel and aluminium bottle tops, corks, metal keys, oral care waste, pens, markers, razors, medicinal asthma inhalers, and blister packs (fees apply). Additionally, there is a Give Write donation box on site, and batteries, light bulbs, phones, and chargers can be dropped off at the recycling hub.
This event runs monthly on Sundays from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. It is free to attend with no bookings necessary, though a gold coin donation is greatly appreciated. It is suitable for all ages, making it a perfect family outing to encourage environmental responsibility.
Held at the City of Melville EcoHub located at 555 Leach Highway, Winthrop WA 6150, the venue is easily accessible by car and public transport. Parking is available nearby, and the EcoHub is a community-friendly space designed to support sustainable living.
Participants are encouraged to start collecting accepted items at home in separate containers to streamline drop-off. Household batteries can also be dropped off year-round at B-cycle points in local grocery stores, and hazardous waste like light bulbs should be taken to Household Hazardous Waste facilities. Phones and chargers can be recycled at MobileMuster points.
No bookings are required to attend Bottle Top Hill. The event is free, but donations are welcomed to support ongoing sustainability initiatives. This makes it an accessible and valuable resource for families looking to reduce their environmental footprint.
