This award-winning monthly event offers families a fantastic opportunity to responsibly recycle items that are often too small or problematic for kerbside bins. It's a community-driven initiative that encourages everyone to bring their tricky-to-recycle waste and contribute to a greener environment.
At Bottle Top Hill, you can drop off a wide variety of recyclable items including plastic bottle tops, bread tags, metal keys, pens, and even medicinal blister packs. The event also features a Give Write donation box and a recycling hub for batteries, light bulbs, phones, and chargers. It's a welcoming space where parents and children alike can learn about sustainability while making a positive impact.
The event runs monthly from 9:00 to 11:00 AM on selected Saturdays throughout the year, starting from 14 March 2026. No bookings are necessary, and the event is free to attend, although gold coin donations are appreciated. Participants are encouraged to collect their recyclable items at home in separate containers before dropping them off to streamline the process.
Held at the City of Melville EcoHub, located at 555 Leach Highway, Winthrop WA 6150, the venue is easily accessible by car and public transport. The EcoHub is a community-focused facility dedicated to sustainability and environmental education, making it an ideal spot for this recycling initiative.
Please note that some items like medicinal blister packs may incur fees. Household amounts of oral care waste are accepted, and hazardous waste like light bulbs should be taken to designated facilities if not dropped off at the EcoHub. Batteries can also be dropped at B-cycle points in local grocery stores, and phones and chargers at MobileMuster points year-round.
This event is free to attend with no need for prior booking. A gold coin donation is greatly appreciated to support the ongoing community efforts. Families of all ages are welcome to participate and contribute to a cleaner environment.
