What to Expect
Dive headfirst into the vibrant world of Brazilian drumming with O'Ziriguidum Escola de Samba. Whether you're a seasoned percussionist or just starting out, there’s a beat for everyone to catch here. This is more than just a drumming group; it’s a community where energy, culture, and music come together.
Under the guidance of Mark Grunden, a maestro known from Bad Boys Batucada and Tumbarumba, you’ll explore traditional Brazilian rhythms from samba to samba reggae. The sessions are lively, inclusive, and full of fun, with traditional instruments and some vocals to spice things up.
Expect a mix of ages and backgrounds, all united by a love of music and community spirit. It’s a fantastic way for families to engage in a cultural and musical experience together.
Activity Details
Classes run every Thursday during school terms from 19:00 to 21:00. The sessions don’t follow a strict course structure, so you can join whenever it suits you. Beginners and experienced drummers alike will learn the basics of each instrument and rhythm before playing songs together.
You’ll receive guidance from regular members and may get sheets to practice at home. The group also performs at community events and street festivals, offering a chance to take the stage and showcase your new skills.
Bring ear plugs, drinks, and snacks. Instruments are provided, so just bring your enthusiasm!
