Classes run weekly on Thursdays during school terms, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. You can drop in whenever it suits you as there is no strict course structure. The sessions cover samba and samba reggae rhythms, with guidance from Mark Grunden and experienced members of O’Ziriguidum.
You’ll learn the basics of each instrument and rhythm patterns, with some sheet music provided to practice at home. Instruments are supplied, so just bring your enthusiasm, ear plugs, drinks, and snacks.
The first class costs $10, then $20 per session ($15 concession). There’s also a membership option to buy 5 classes upfront with a freebie included. Payment can be made on arrival by cash or EFTPOS.
The classes take place at 49 Nicholson Street, Brunswick East, in the hall located underneath the church. This central location is easily accessible by public transport.
