Under the expert guidance of Mark Grunden and the talented members of O'Ziriguidum, you’ll explore the techniques and patterns of traditional Brazilian percussion. From the celebratory beats of samba to the powerful grooves of samba reggae, you’ll learn a variety of rhythms. Sessions are welcoming to all skill levels, with plenty of support from regular members. Expect a fun, energetic atmosphere where making music and friends go hand in hand.
Classes run every Thursday during school terms from 19:00 to 21:00. The term dates for 2026 are:
- Term 2: 2026-04-23 to 2026-06-25
- Term 3: 2026-07-16 to 2026-09-17
- Term 4: 2026-10-08 to 2026-12-17
You can join any session without a strict course structure. Instruments are provided, and you’re encouraged to bring ear plugs, drinks, and snacks. The first class costs $10, then $20 per session or $15 concession. There’s also a membership deal for five classes with a freebie.
Classes take place at 49 Nicholson Street, Brunswick East, in the hall located underneath the church. The venue is easily accessible by public transport:
