This engaging six-week program is designed specifically for parents and carers of children aged 10 to 18 years. Created by the Australian Childhood Foundation, it offers valuable insights and practical strategies to help you stay connected with your tween or teen and support their journey towards independence.
Throughout the program, you will explore important topics such as understanding brain development during adolescence, recognising the meaning behind challenging behaviours, and working with your child's individuality and boundary-pushing tendencies. You will also learn effective communication techniques and how to address unhelpful attitudes, reflect on your parenting practices, and manage parenting stress with guidance on seeking help if needed.
The program runs for six weeks, every Wednesday evening from 18:30 to 20:30, starting on 2026-04-29 and concluding on 2026-06-03. Free snacks will be provided to make your experience comfortable and welcoming. This is an excellent opportunity to connect with other parents facing similar challenges and share experiences in a supportive environment.
Sessions take place at the Cockburn Youth Centre, located at 25 Wentworth Parade, Success 6164. The venue offers accessible features including accessible toilets, spaces, and lifts, free parking, and public toilets.
