Camping 101

A nature filled night of camping and outdoor activities is easy and fun at Centennial Parklands.

What to Expect

Camping 101 is an authentic camping experience just 10 minutes away from the CBD. It's a special way to bond with family and enjoy a twilight tour, campfire stories, sleeping under the stars and much more!

Activity Details

Throughout the year, the program will have different themes:

Friday 14 March 2025 - Raft Races

: Learn how to build robust little rafts from natural materials and test to see if they float in Centennial Park's waters!

Friday 11 April 2025 - Nature's Treasure Hunt

: Join rangers on a hunt for nature's treasures. Collect parts to contribute to a communal artwork!

Friday 16 May 2025 - Stargazing

: Gaze through Sydney City Skywatcher's telescopes to admire the stars under which you'll sleep.

Friday 19 September 2025 - Shelter Challenge

: Take on the challenge to build a waterproof shelter using sticks and branches.

Friday 31 October 2025 - Halloween Campfire Stories

: Dress up and gather around the campfire for spooky tales about drop bears and bunyips!

Friday 21 November 2025 - Arts & Crafts with Rangers

: Get creative with rangers and craft your first Christmas present!

The package includes:

- Tent assembly 101

- Fully catered BBQ dinner and continental breakfast

- Unique bat-watching experience at sunset with Education rangers

- Guided spotlight tour of nocturnal wildlife in the park

- Running, jumping and playing in an amazing outdoor classroom

- Authentic catered campfire experience (with s'mores and stories!)

- Mindfulness activities for adults and kid's nature play activities in the morning
