What to Expect
Immerse yourself and your children in the fascinating world of Chinese calligraphy. These workshops introduce the evolution of Chinese characters and the essential tools like brushes, ink, rice paper, and ink slabs. You'll learn proper brush handling techniques and practice basic strokes, pictograms, and small seal script.

Activity Details
The workshops run monthly on the first Saturday from 10:30 to 12:00, starting July 4, 2026, through to October 3, 2026. The program includes four sessions, each featuring unique characters and drawings such as melon, flower, fish, and panda.
Bookings are essential and cost $15 for the full program. You only need to register once to attend all sessions. Spaces are limited, so early registration is encouraged.
Participants must be library members, which is free and easy to join online or at any branch.

These workshops take place at the Lionel Bowen Library in Maroubra, located at 669-673 Anzac Parade. The venue is committed to accessibility and inclusivity; if you have any access requirements, you can contact the library to arrange support.

Important Information
Please bring your own calligraphy brushes as they are not provided. The health and safety of participants are a priority, with Covid-safe measures in place. By registering, you agree to comply with the terms and conditions, which may change as needed.
Late arrivals cannot be admitted to maintain the workshop flow. Tickets are non-transferable, and cancellations up to one day before the event may receive a refund minus fees.
Photographs or video recordings may be taken for promotional use; notify staff if you prefer not to be included.
Booking and Prices
The full program costs $15, payable upon booking through Eventbrite. Registration opens on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 9:30 AM. Booking once covers all four sessions.
Refunds are available for cancellations made at least one day before the event start date, minus Eventbrite fees. In case of event cancellation, refunds or credits will be issued accordingly.
