Escape the daily grind with Choir 3006, a welcoming community choir open to everyone living, working, playing, or learning in Southbank. Led by the dynamic choral conductor Renee Heron, these sessions offer a joyful social sing that requires no prior music training or experience. It’s a perfect midweek break to refresh your spirit and connect with others.
Each Wednesday during school terms, participants gather for a relaxed and inclusive singing experience. Whether you’re a seasoned singer or a complete beginner, the choir encourages all voices to join in a supportive environment.
The sessions are casual drop-ins, making it easy to fit into busy schedules. You’ll find yourself uplifted by the camaraderie and the simple joy of singing together.
The choir meets every Wednesday during school terms from 12:15pm to 1:00pm, providing a convenient lunchtime escape. The Term One 2026 schedule includes sessions at two locations: the Melbourne Recital Centre and Federation Hall at the University of Melbourne Southbank.
Dates for Term One 2026 are:
- 4, 11, 18, 25 February at Melbourne Recital Centre
- 4 March at Federation Hall
- 11 March at Melbourne Recital Centre
- 18 March at Federation Hall
- 25 March at Melbourne Recital Centre
- 1 April at Federation Hall
No registration fee is required, but you are encouraged to register your interest online to receive updates and news.
Sessions are held at two accessible venues in Southbank:
- Melbourne Recital Centre, 31 Sturt Street, Southbank 3006
- Federation Hall, University of Melbourne Southbank, 5/7-17 Grant Street, Southbank VIC 3006
Both venues offer wheelchair access and welcome assistance animals. Federation Hall is just a five-minute walk from the Melbourne Recital Centre, with clear directions available for the entrance on Grant Street.
Public transport and parking options are available nearby, making it easy to attend during your lunch break.
Choir 3006 is a free community initiative designed to foster connection and wellbeing through singing. No prior musical experience or training is necessary, making it accessible for all.
Attendance is casual and drop-in, but registering your interest online helps the organisers keep you informed about any updates or changes.
The choir respects and acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land, the Kulin nation, and pays respects to their Elders past and present.
Participation in Choir 3006 is completely free. While you can attend sessions without booking, completing the online registration form is recommended to receive timely updates and news about the choir.
