Citizenship Ceremonies

Citizenship ceremonies at the City of Kingston offer a meaningful and memorable way to officially become an Australian citizen. These events mark the final step in the citizenship process and are designed to celebrate this important milestone with family and friends.

What to Expect

The ceremony lasts up to two hours and includes a formal introduction, speeches, an address to participants, the pledge of commitment, and the National Anthem. Attendees will be asked to repeat the Australian citizenship pledge aloud, officially becoming citizens after doing so.

Activity Details

Ceremonies are held at Kingston City Hall, located at 985 Nepean Highway. The 2026 ceremony dates are 26 January, 19 March, 14 May, 16 July, 24 September, and 5 November. Invitations with specific times and instructions will be emailed to participants. Guests are welcome to attend and celebrate, with seating arranged separately from candidates.

Location and Access

Important Information

Participants must bring their invitation and photo identification, such as a driver's license or passport. If photo ID is unavailable, three documents showing name, address, and signature are required. Dress code is formal or smart casual, or national/cultural dress, reflecting the ceremony's significance.
