The City of Ryde Volunteer Recognition Awards shine a light on the dedicated individuals whose creativity, initiative, and personal time have positively impacted the community. These awards celebrate those who uplift and enhance the lives of others within the City of Ryde.
This event honors volunteers across various categories, including the Community Heroes who have made exceptional contributions either currently or in the past. Expect heartfelt recognition of individuals and groups who have gone above and beyond in their service.
The awards highlight inspiring stories of dedication, showcasing how volunteers have motivated others and created lasting benefits for local organizations and residents. It is a moment to appreciate the often unseen efforts that strengthen community bonds.
Nominations are open to businesses, community groups, families, and individuals actively volunteering within the City of Ryde, excluding political or lobbying activities. Young volunteers aged 12-25 can be nominated for the Young Volunteer Award, while the Community Heroes category acknowledges past and present contributors.
Each nominee is evaluated on the impact, dedication, and outstanding features of their volunteer work. Multiple nominations for the same organization must be combined unless significant evidence supports separate contributions.
The awards ceremony is held at Curzon Hall, a central and accessible venue within the City of Ryde. The location is well-served by public transport and offers convenient parking options for attendees.
Community members and nominees are encouraged to attend and celebrate the achievements of local volunteers in a warm and welcoming environment.
Previous award recipients can be re-nominated if their volunteer work continues or if nominated in a different category. Nominations for deceased individuals are accepted in the Community Heroes category to honor their legacy.
Supporting materials for nominations should be no larger than A4 and submitted with the official form. The judging panel includes the City of Ryde Mayor, CEO or delegate, and previous award winners, ensuring a fair and respected selection process.
There is no cost to nominate or attend the Volunteer Recognition Awards. Nomination forms are available through the City of Ryde website or customer service centre. Early submission is encouraged to allow thorough consideration by the judging panel.
