Discover a fun and sustainable way to refresh your wardrobe without spending a dime. Bring up to 8 pieces of adult clothing or accessories to exchange using tokens as currency. This event encourages you to give your good quality garments a second life with someone new who will treasure them.
All types of adult clothing are accepted, provided they are clean, folded, and in good condition. Items with minor faults that are easy to repair are also welcome. Please avoid bringing stained, worn out, or dirty clothes, as well as underwear, socks, jewellery, swimwear, or sportswear.
Enjoy the satisfaction of reducing waste and supporting a circular fashion economy while connecting with like-minded community members.
The event runs on Saturday, 25 July 2026, from 09:30 to 11:45. The swap begins with a drop-off period from 09:30 to 10:30 where you hand over your items and receive tokens in exchange.
After the drop-off, staff will sort and display all items. The swapping session starts at 10:45 and runs until 11:45, allowing you to browse and 'buy' new items using your tokens.
This event is free for Hornsby Shire residents, but bookings are essential to participate.
The clothes swap takes place at Thornleigh Community Centre, located at the corner of Phyllis and Central Avenue, Thornleigh, NSW 2120.
The venue is accessible by public transport and has parking nearby. It is a community-friendly space suitable for families and individuals looking to engage in sustainable practices.
Maps and directions are available online to help you find the centre easily.
Please ensure all items you bring meet the quality criteria: clean, folded, good quality, and likely to be valued by others. Items that do not meet these standards will not be accepted during the quality screening process.
Remember, this is a token-based swap system, so bring your items to receive tokens for swapping. Only items dropped off during the designated time will be accepted.
This event supports sustainability by encouraging reuse and reducing textile waste, making it a perfect activity for environmentally conscious families.
Participation is free for residents of Hornsby Shire, but booking is essential to secure your place.
