You will work alongside Council's experienced Bushcare Officers who provide guidance and support throughout the activities. It’s a hands-on experience that’s both rewarding and educational, ideal for parents looking to engage their school-aged children in meaningful environmental work.
Expect to get your hands dirty as you help remove weeds, plant native species, and maintain the natural beauty of this special area. It’s a chance to learn about local flora and fauna while enjoying fresh air and community spirit.
The Bushcare sessions occur monthly on the 4th Friday, running from 09:00 to 12:00. The program is scheduled from August 28, 2026, through to November 27, 2026, providing consistent opportunities to participate.
Volunteers of all experience levels are welcome, and no prior knowledge is necessary. The Council provides all necessary tools and equipment, but it’s recommended to wear sturdy shoes, sun protection, and bring water.
This activity is suitable for parents and children who enjoy outdoor activities and want to contribute positively to their local environment. It’s a fantastic way to spend a morning outdoors, learning and giving back.
The meeting point is at the designated car parking spaces opposite 18 Eastbourne Avenue, Clovelly. This site is located on the northern side of Clovelly Bay, known for its two remnant patches of native coastal heath.
The area is accessible by car and public transport options are available nearby. Parking is available at the designated spots, making it convenient for families to attend.
The natural setting offers a peaceful backdrop, making it an enjoyable and refreshing environment for bushcare activities.
Bookings are essential to ensure a spot and to receive any updates about the sessions. Volunteers should contact the Council's Bushcare Officer to register.
Participants should be prepared for outdoor conditions, including sun exposure and uneven terrain. It’s advisable to wear appropriate clothing and bring personal protective items.
Children should be supervised by their parents at all times to ensure safety during the activities.
