What to Expect
Dive into the exciting world of coding and game development with CodeWarriors this school holidays at Lawson. Designed for students in Years 4 to 9, this camp offers a hands-on learning experience where creativity meets technology. Whether your child is a beginner or has some coding experience, they will find a supportive environment to explore and grow.
Participants will engage in real programming challenges, develop games, and collaborate with peers who share their passion for technology. Led by experienced software developers and educators, the camp ensures personalized attention in small groups, making learning fun and effective.
Optional Raspberry Pi kits are available for those who want to extend their experience, and students are encouraged to bring their own laptops to maximize learning opportunities.
Activity Details
The camp runs from Monday 13 July to Friday 17 July 2026, from 09:00 to 16:00 daily. There are three program options:
- 2-Day Code Foundations program focusing on Python coding, perfect for beginners.
- 3-Day Creative Coders program centered on game development using Godot.
- Full 5-Day experience combining both programs for a comprehensive learning journey.
Each day is packed with engaging activities that balance theory and practical application, encouraging problem-solving and creativity. The camp is suitable for all skill levels and promotes collaboration and mentorship.
Location and Access
The camp is held at The Lawson Mechanics Institute, located at 284 Great Western Highway, Lawson. This venue is easily accessible within the Blue Mountains region and provides a comfortable space equipped for technology-based learning.
Parents can drop off and pick up their children at the venue each day. The location is well-known locally and offers a safe environment for students to learn and interact.
Important Information
Please ensure your child brings a laptop if possible, as BYOD is supported to enhance the learning experience. Raspberry Pi device kits are optional and can be purchased separately.
The camp is led by qualified instructors, supported by assistant instructors and senior student mentors, ensuring a high-quality educational experience.
Spaces are limited to maintain small group sizes and personalized attention, so early booking is recommended.
Booking and Prices
The cost for participation ranges from $240 to $520 depending on the program length chosen. This fee covers all instruction, materials, and support throughout the camp.
