Discover how to capture the unique character and everyday beauty of Greater Dandenong through photography. These workshops focus on developing your eye for observation, composition, light, perspective, and visual storytelling rather than technical camera settings. Led by visual artist and educator Abhijit Pal, you'll be inspired to see familiar places in new ways.
Enjoy an engaging outdoor walk to practice your new skills and receive personalized feedback on your photos. Whether you use a smartphone or digital camera, these sessions are designed to boost your confidence and creativity.
Perfect for community members eager to contribute to the 2027 Community Calendar, these workshops offer a supportive environment to learn and grow your photography talents.
Two workshop sessions are available:
- Workshop 1: Sunday 16 August 2026, 13:00 to 15:30 at Keysborough Community Hub
- Workshop 2: Thursday 20 August 2026, 14:30 to 17:00 at Springvale Community Hub
Each session includes practical photo walks and opportunities for photo review and feedback. Places are limited, and participants are asked to register for only one workshop to allow others to attend.
Bring your own smartphone or digital camera to fully engage in the activities. After the workshop, you can enter your photos into the 2027 Community Calendar Photography Competition before the closing date on Monday 31 August.
Workshop 1 will be held at Keysborough Community Hub, located at 10 Villiers Road, Keysborough. Workshop 2 takes place at Springvale Community Hub, 5 Hillcrest Grove, Springvale. Both venues are community hubs accessible by public transport and offer parking facilities.
These locations are welcoming spaces designed to support community learning and creativity. If you require additional assistance to participate, the council encourages you to get in touch.
Please note that places are limited for each workshop, so early booking is essential. Participants should enroll in only one session to maximize opportunities for others.
The workshops are free of charge, but bookings are required via email. Bring your own device for photography practice.
