Experience the joy of giving back to nature with a community planting day at Greythorn Park. This event invites families and individuals to help plant tubestock and shrubs in a prepared site, fostering a greener local environment. It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect with nature and your community.
Volunteers will be planting alongside council representatives who will provide all necessary plants. Bring your enthusiasm and a readiness to get your hands dirty in this hands-on outdoor activity.
This event is suitable for all ages, but children must be supervised by an adult guardian throughout the session.
The planting session will run from 10:00 to 11:30 am on Saturday, 8 August 2026. After planting, participants are invited to enjoy a light morning tea, providing a chance to relax and mingle with fellow community members.
Please bring a water bottle to stay hydrated, gloves and a trowel if you have them, and a kneeling mat if you prefer. Wear appropriate footwear for outdoor gardening.
The event will proceed rain or shine, but keep an eye on the weather forecast. Organisers will email attendees if the event needs to be cancelled or postponed.
Meet at Greythorn Park, located at 11A Alpha Street, Balwyn North VIC 3104. The gathering point is opposite the intersection of Alpha and Gamma Streets.
Greythorn Park is accessible by local transport and offers a pleasant outdoor setting for this community activity. Parking and access details can be checked on the City of Boroondara website if needed.
Children are welcome but must be supervised by an adult guardian at all times for their safety. The guardian is responsible for their child’s supervision throughout the event.
Volunteers have already prepared the site for planting, so all you need to do is show up ready to plant and enjoy the experience.
