What to Expect
Experience a relaxed, hands-on planting session perfect for families and nature lovers. You'll receive guidance from experienced staff who will help you contribute to creating a greener Sydney. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with your local community and learn about native plants that support local wildlife.
Activity Details
Join the planting of 4,000 native grasses, herbs, and wildflowers to strengthen an important urban habitat. The meadow has been nurtured since 2011 and includes species such as kangaroo grass, weeping grass, and native violet, vital for birds, insects, and small mammals.
Location and Access
The event takes place at Prince Alfred Park, Chalmers Street, Surry Hills NSW 2010. The planting site is along Cleveland Street with the closest entrance opposite George Street. The park is easily accessible and family-friendly.
Important Information
Please wear enclosed shoes and sun-safe clothing, and bring a water bottle and gloves if you have them. Fruit and water will be provided on the day. Children are welcome but should be supervised closely to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all. In case of extreme weather, updates about changes or cancellations will be communicated.

This is a free event but registration is essential. You can register online with Planet Ark or on the day at the event. Additional planting days are available on Sunday 19 July at Wood Street Playground and Friday 24 July at Harold Park.
