Expect an engaging and practical experience where you can ask questions and gain confidence in managing your compost bin. Each attendee will receive a free compost bin to kickstart their composting journey.
Council staff may capture photos or videos during the event for promotional use. If you prefer not to be photographed, please inform a staff member on the day.
This workshop covers the essentials of composting, including what materials to include and avoid, how to balance your compost bin, and troubleshooting tips to keep your compost healthy. The session is designed to be interactive and informative, ensuring you leave with the knowledge to start composting at home with ease.
The event is free of charge and suitable for families interested in sustainable gardening and waste reduction. It provides a great opportunity to connect with like-minded community members and learn practical environmental skills.
The workshop will be held at the Sutherland Shire Council Community Nursery, located at 345 The Boulevarde, Gymea, NSW 2227. The venue is accessible and family-friendly, making it easy for parents to bring their school-aged children along.
Parking is available nearby, and the nursery is well-signposted within the Sutherland Shire area. Public transport options are also available for convenient access.
Please arrive a few minutes early to ensure the session can start promptly at 09:00. The workshop will run until 11:00.
Remember to dress comfortably and be prepared for an outdoor or semi-outdoor environment. Bringing gloves or gardening tools is optional but may enhance your experience.

This event is free to attend but is currently sold out. However, you can join the waitlist for a chance to participate if spots become available.
