This community swim event offers a safe and welcoming environment for anyone wanting to reconnect with the water at Coogee Beach. It’s designed to help people regain their confidence in the ocean after recent concerns.
Alongside the swim, there will be a BBQ hosted by the Coogee Surf Life Saving Club, with all proceeds supporting Leah Stewart. This creates a friendly atmosphere for families and friends to gather and enjoy the beachside.
Mental health support is also available on site, with Lifeline volunteers providing crisis counselling to anyone who may need it during the event.
The event begins at 9:00 and runs until 12:00, with the community swim scheduled from 9:00 to 9:45. Lifeline volunteers will be available from 9:00 until around 14:00 for mental health support.
Following the swim, the Coogee Surf Life Saving Club will run a BBQ from 9:45 onwards, encouraging donations to support Leah Stewart.
This event is ideal for parents looking to safely introduce their children to the ocean or for anyone wanting to feel part of a caring community.
The swim takes place near the Coogee Boatshed, on the north side of the Rainbow Steps. This accessible location is well-known and easy to find for locals and visitors alike.
Parking and public transport options are available nearby, making it convenient for families to attend.
The Lifeline tent providing mental health support will be set up near the Coogee Rainbow, clearly visible for anyone seeking assistance.
Please note that this event is a community initiative following a recent shark incident, aiming to provide a safe space for swimmers.
Participants should be aware that the Lifeline volunteers may finish their support earlier depending on demand.
The BBQ is donation-based, so bringing some cash to support Leah Stewart is encouraged.
Attendees are advised to bring swimwear, towels, sun protection, and water to stay hydrated.
This is a free community event with no booking required.
Donations are welcome at the BBQ to support Leah Stewart.
