Discover the simple, tactile joy of weaving in this engaging workshop designed for children aged 6 and older. Under the guidance of artist Marietta Zafirakos, participants will learn to create their own simple loom using cardboard and sticks. They will then weave unique designs using scrap fabric and personal items.
This hands-on activity encourages creativity and personalization, allowing children to bring fabrics, ribbons, beads, buttons, or sprigs of plants from home to enhance their creations. It’s a perfect way to spark imagination and introduce kids to the art of textile weaving.
The workshop promises a relaxed and friendly environment where children can explore textures and colors while developing fine motor skills.
The workshop is facilitated by Marietta Zafirakos, an experienced artist passionate about teaching weaving techniques. It is suitable for children aged 6 years and above, making it an ideal school holiday activity.
The session runs for two hours, from 10:30 to 12:30, providing ample time for participants to complete their weaving project. The cost to attend is $15 per child, which covers all materials needed except personal items brought from home.
Parents can expect a well-structured yet fun workshop that balances instruction with creative freedom.
