What to Expect
Dive into the fascinating world of biomedical engineering in this engaging 3-day workshop designed for high school learners aged 12 to 15. Participants will explore life-saving medical technologies including cardiac pacemakers and 3D bioprinters, inspired by the Powerhouse Collection and Tyree IHealthE prototypes.
This workshop offers a unique opportunity to understand how engineers, designers, and doctors collaborate to solve heart-related health challenges. Learners will get hands-on experience experimenting with sensors and circuits to build their own heart rate monitors.
Roleplay activities will encourage creativity as participants co-design a prototype responding to real medical needs and pitch their innovative ideas for the future of healthcare.
Activity Details
The workshop runs over three consecutive days, from Wednesday to Friday, each session lasting four hours from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. It is tailored for students in Years 7 to 9, providing a perfect blend of education and fun during school holidays.
Generously supported by the Sir William Tyree Foundation, this program combines expert knowledge with interactive learning to inspire the next generation of biomedical engineers.

Location and Access
The workshop will be held at PHIVE, located at 5 Parramatta Square, Parramatta, NSW 2150. PHIVE is a modern, accessible venue in the heart of Parramatta, easily reachable by public transport and with nearby parking options.
Parents can comfortably drop off and pick up their children at this safe and well-equipped facility. The venue also offers a welcoming environment for families and learners alike.
