What to Expect
Step into a playful creative space designed for all ages and abilities where you can explore themes of food and family through engaging craft activities. Inspired by Mechelle Bounpraseuth’s luscious ceramics, this workshop invites you to create your own offerings to leave on a fruit shrine or decorate canned-food labels to add to the shelves.
This drop-in workshop encourages imagination and hands-on making, perfect for parents looking to inspire their children’s creativity in a relaxed environment. Children under 12 must be supervised by an adult at all times, ensuring a safe and fun experience for the whole family.
Materials and instructions are provided, so just bring your enthusiasm and enjoy the process of making art together.
Activity Details
The workshop runs during the Art Gallery of New South Wales opening hours and is free of charge with no bookings required. It is suitable for all ages and abilities, making it an ideal family outing.
Special workshops on 11 and 12 July 2026 are part of the Hive Festival, adding an extra layer of excitement and community spirit to the event.
This activity is ongoing until February 2027, offering plenty of opportunities to visit and participate at your convenience.
Location and Access
The workshop is held at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, located in the Naala Nura building on Lower Level 2. The gallery is situated on Art Gallery Road, The Domain, Sydney NSW 2000.
The venue is accessible and open daily from 10:00 to 17:00, with extended hours until 22:00 on Wednesdays. It is closed on Good Friday and Christmas Day.
Free entry to the gallery makes this an easy and affordable cultural outing for families.
