What to Expect
Dive into a creative experience inspired by Dharug artist Billy Bain, who grew up on Sydney’s Northern Beaches where surfing shaped his connection to place. This workshop invites children and families to design and decorate mini surfboards using imagery and motifs important to Bain.
Participants will have the chance to contribute their artwork to a giant ‘paddle out’ installation celebrating Sydney’s vibrant beach lifestyle, surf culture, and First Nations connection to water. It’s a wonderful way for kids to express themselves and learn about local culture in a fun, hands-on environment.
Materials and instructions are provided, making it easy for all ages and abilities to join in. Children under 12 must be supervised by an adult at all times, ensuring a safe and supportive atmosphere.
