Immerse yourself in nature and make a real difference by volunteering at Dunningham Reserve Bushcare. This program focuses on restoring the coastal heath ecosystem, a vital part of the local environment near Gordons Bay. Volunteers work alongside Council's Bushcare Officers to remove invasive weeds and plant indigenous species, helping to preserve biodiversity.
You will experience hands-on conservation work that is both rewarding and educational. It’s a wonderful opportunity for parents and children to connect with the environment and learn about native plants and wildlife.
Whether you are new to bushcare or have experience, this welcoming group offers a chance to contribute to your community’s green spaces while enjoying fresh air and the beauty of Coogee’s natural surroundings.

This is a regular commitment but flexible enough to fit into busy family schedules. The work is physically engaging but suitable for most fitness levels.
Dunningham Reserve is located near 5-7 Major Street in Coogee, easily accessible by public transport or car. The site is a beautiful coastal heath area that extends the vegetation around Gordons Bay.
Parking is available nearby, and the area is family-friendly with safe access paths. Volunteers meet on site, and Council provides tools and guidance.
This location offers a peaceful natural setting perfect for a morning outdoors with the family, combining community spirit with environmental care.
Volunteers should wear sturdy shoes, sun protection, and bring water. Gloves and tools are provided by the Council.
Children are welcome but must be supervised by an adult at all times for safety.
Bookings are essential to manage group sizes and ensure a safe and productive session.
