Whitehorse is a vibrant city that encourages the use of its parks, gardens, and public spaces for events that celebrate culture, creativity, and community connection. To help you host your event smoothly, the council provides a clear and supportive event permit process.
What to Expect
When planning an event on Council land such as parks, roads, or reserves, you will likely need an event permit. This ensures the space is safe, suitable, and available for your event. Permits are required for events that are advertised, open to the public, include contractors, food vendors, temporary infrastructure, or create noticeable noise.
Activity Details
The permit application is completed online through the Bookable platform. After submission, the Events Team assesses your request, determines the event's impact level, and informs you of any additional documents needed. You may be asked to provide site plans, insurance, risk management plans, and other relevant permits depending on your event's complexity.
Location and Access
Events take place on various Council-managed public spaces across Whitehorse, including parks, roads, and reserves. You can search for your preferred location on the Bookable platform or select 'Other Park or Open Space' if your venue is not listed.
Important Information
Event permits are typically issued 7 days before the event date. For earlier confirmation, you can request In Principal Support. Some activities require additional approvals separate from the event permit process. The council assesses your event based on attendance, infrastructure, noise, risk, and public access impact.
Booking and Prices
Apply online via the Bookable platform at https://whitehorse.bookable.net.au/. Fees and bond requirements depend on the event type and impact level. Once approved, you will receive a confirmation, event permit, terms and conditions, and details about any fees or bonds.
