Discover the art of observational drawing in this engaging 6-week course led by the respected artist and teacher Trevor Weekes. Designed for intermediate learners but welcoming beginners, this course offers a creative and supportive environment to develop your drawing skills.
Participants will explore still-life drawing, experimenting with various materials and techniques to enhance their artistic expression. Each session encourages creativity and hands-on learning, perfect for parents looking to nurture their own or their children's artistic talents.

The course runs for six consecutive Tuesdays starting June 2, 2026, from 09:30 to 12:30, totaling three hours per session. Commitment to all six sessions is required, with no refunds or credits for absences.
Materials are not included but recommended items include an A3 sketchbook, woodless graphite pencils (HB, 2B, 4B, 6B), Pitt artist pens, compressed charcoal, and erasers. Some supplies are available for purchase at shopMAC.
This intermediate-level course takes place in the StudioMAC education space inside MAC yapang and requires participants to wear closed-in shoes for safety.
The course is held at the Museum of Art and Culture (MAC) yapang, located at 2A First Street, Booragul, Lake Macquarie 2284. Access is via the main entrance foyer.
MAC yapang is a welcoming cultural venue in Lake Macquarie, easily accessible by car and public transport. Parking and visitor services are available on site.
Electronic check-in is used at the visitor services desk, so there is no need to print tickets.
Please note this course is strictly limited in capacity and currently sold out due to high demand. Participants must commit to attending all six sessions to gain the full benefit.
Refunds or credits will not be provided for absences or failure to attend. The course is suitable for intermediate learners but beginners are also encouraged to join.
Closed-in shoes are mandatory for all participants to ensure safety within the studio environment.
The upfront course fee is $235 per person, which includes the booking fee. Lake Arts Members receive a discounted rate of $211.50.
Bookings are essential and can be made online. Early registration is recommended to avoid disappointment due to limited spaces.
