The awards recognize gardens that demonstrate environmental care, creative presentation, and the use of sustainable plants. Winners receive recognition during Council meetings, including a $100 gift card, a potted plant from the Fairfield Community Nursery, and a framed Certificate of Achievement presented by the Mayor.
The Fabulous Fairfield Garden Awards program invites residents to nominate their gardens online. Monthly winners become eligible for the prestigious Residential Garden of the Year Award, presented annually at the last Council meeting in December. This grand prize includes a $500 cheque, an ornamental plant, and a feature in the City Connect newsletter. Judging criteria focus on sustainability, environmental impact, plant selection, presentation, and creativity.
The awards celebrate gardens throughout Fairfield City, encouraging community-wide participation. Council meetings where awards are presented are held at the Fairfield City Council Administration Centre, located at 86 Avoca Road, Wakeley NSW 2176. The centre is open Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm.
Nominations must be submitted via the online form, with entry conditions and judging criteria available in downloadable PDFs. All monthly winners automatically qualify for the annual Garden of the Year Award. For inquiries, residents can contact the Council via email or phone.
