What to Expect
Experience a fun, gentle, and inclusive Auslan Storytime designed especially for children aged 0–5 and their parents or caregivers. Through shared picture books, songs, and actions, children will watch stories read aloud in both spoken English and Auslan (Australian Sign Language).
Little ones are encouraged to watch, listen, sign, move, and join in, supporting early language development in a playful and engaging way. No prior Auslan experience is needed, making it accessible for all families.
This session supports the First 5 Forever building blocks of talking, reading, singing, and playing, helping children develop communication skills, confidence, and empathy from an early age.
Activity Details
Caregivers will learn a small set of simple Auslan signs and activities to try at home, enhancing communication and language development beyond the library setting. This is part of The Together Project, which fosters learning and growth together.
The storytime creates welcoming spaces where all families feel they belong, celebrates diversity, and builds strong foundations for lifelong learning.
Sessions run on Mondays from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM on 9th, 16th, and 23rd February 2026.
