Prizes include $300 for the adult winner and $100 for school student winners in each category, making it a rewarding experience for all participants.

Activity Details

The competition runs from Monday, 30 June 2025, at midnight, through to Monday, 8 September 2025, at 09:30 AM. All submissions must be original and limited to 500 words or 25 lines for poetry, excluding the title. Entries will be judged on originality, creativity, language construction, and engagement with the theme.

To support entrants, free creative writing workshops are offered during the competition period. These workshops cater to children, teens, and young adults, helping participants refine their skills and prepare their entries.

The winners will be announced at a special ceremony, providing a wonderful opportunity to celebrate local talent and creativity.

Location and Access

The competition is hosted by Campbelltown City Libraries in partnership with WestWords. The main location for submissions and events is the HJ Daley Library at 147-157 Queen Street, Campbelltown 2560.

Workshops are held at various local libraries including Ingleburn Library, Eagle Vale Library, and Glenquarie Library, making it convenient for families across the area to participate.

All events and submissions are accessible to residents within the Campbelltown Local Government area, ensuring community-wide involvement.

Important Information

Entries must be submitted by 9:30 AM on Monday, 8 September 2025. Late submissions will not be accepted. The judges’ decisions are final, and no correspondence will be entered into regarding outcomes.

Participants should ensure their work is original and adheres to the word or line limits. The competition is open to individuals from grade four and above who live, work, or study locally.

The workshops are free and designed to support writers of all experience levels, providing guidance through the creative process.
