Discover the tranquil beauty of Frankston Nature Conservation Reserve on guided walks led by knowledgeable volunteers. Experience the newly built boardwalk and shaded gullies filled with native wattles, pines, and grasses. Enjoy peaceful moments by the creek listening to eastern brown froglets and spotting local wildlife including cormorants, ducks, blue-tongue lizards, blue-billed ducks, and even resident koalas.

These walks offer a wonderful opportunity to connect with nature, learn about local flora and fauna, and enjoy fresh air and gentle exercise. Suitable for families looking to introduce children to the outdoors and for adults seeking a relaxing yet engaging activity.

The walks are designed to be accessible for most fitness levels but are not suitable for prams or bicycles. They provide a perfect setting for wellbeing, fitness, and nature appreciation.

Activity Details

The walks occur weekly on Wednesdays and Thursdays with two different routes:

- Wednesdays: 3km Kookaburra Bush Circuit, approximately 1 to 1.5 hours, featuring a loop via the Sweetwater Track and a dam wall lookout.

- Thursdays: 1.8km Heathland Bush Circuit, approximately 45 minutes return, showcasing damp heathy woodland and diverse wildflowers.

Participants should meet at the Jeremy Way Carpark in Frankston South. It is recommended to bring a water bottle, wear closed-toe footwear, a hat, sunblock, insect repellent, and dress appropriately for weather conditions.

Bookings are essential and must be cancelled if unable to attend. The event may be cancelled due to extreme weather, with notifications sent by email.

Location and Access

The walks start at Jeremy Way Carpark, Frankston South, 3199. The reserve features natural bushland with boardwalks and walking tracks but does not have toilet facilities on site.

Access is by foot or car to the carpark. The trails are not suitable for prams or bicycles, so please plan accordingly.

The location offers a peaceful natural environment within easy reach of Frankston, making it an ideal spot for families and nature lovers.

Please note that the walks are managed in accordance with Victorian government COVID-19 guidelines to ensure participant safety. If you feel unwell, please cancel your booking and do not attend.

Participants agree to follow all instructions from staff and volunteers to maintain safety and compliance with health measures.

There are no toilet facilities at the park, so please plan ahead. Weather conditions may affect the event, and cancellations will be communicated via email.
