What to Expect
Dive into the exciting world of game creation where children aged 7-12 can build their own arcade games from scratch. Using Microsoft MakeCode, a free and open-source platform, participants will learn to add platforms, obstacles, and enemies to challenge themselves and others.
This interactive workshop encourages creativity and introduces young minds to computer science concepts in a fun and engaging way. Each session is designed to be hands-on, allowing kids to see their ideas come to life on screen.
Parents can feel confident knowing their children are in a supportive environment that fosters learning and imagination.
Activity Details
The workshop runs on Wednesdays from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM on the following dates: April 29, May 6, May 13, May 20, and May 27, 2026. Each session includes a 10-minute arrival and 10-minute pack-up time within the duration.
Registration is required, and attendees are limited to one registration per day for multi-session programs. Guardians of children under 12 must remain on the library premises during the session.
Library membership is recommended for all participants and is free to join, providing access to additional resources and programs.
Location and Access
The workshops take place at Whitlam Library Cabramatta, located at 165 Railway Parade, Cabramatta NSW 2166. The library is accessible by public transport and offers a welcoming space for families.
Maps and directions are available online to assist with planning your visit. The venue is equipped to support a positive learning experience for children and their guardians.
Important Information
Please ensure children are within the recommended age range of 7-12 years. Guardians must be at least 16 years old and stay on-site throughout the workshop.
Participants should refrain from attending if experiencing illness or COVID-19 symptoms to ensure the safety of all attendees. Photography may occur during the event for promotional purposes; notify staff if you do not consent.
Workshops may be rescheduled or cancelled due to low enrolment or unforeseen circumstances, with updates communicated via email.
Booking and Prices
This program is free to attend but requires prior registration via Eventbrite. Early booking is encouraged to secure a spot as places are limited.
If unable to attend, please cancel your booking to allow others the opportunity to participate. Failure to notify non-attendance may affect future bookings.
