What to Expect
Dive into the vibrant world of mosaic art with award-winning artist Catherine Conaty. This two-day workshop invites you to create a stunning Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo mosaic from start to finish on a lightweight board suitable for indoor or outdoor display. Whether you're new to mosaics or looking to refine your skills, this hands-on experience offers expert guidance in a supportive environment.
You will learn essential mosaic techniques including pattern design and transfer, substrate preparation, glass cutting and grinding, and the use of wheeled nippers. The workshop also covers adhesives and finishing touches with a tinted cement-based background, ensuring your artwork is both beautiful and durable.
This workshop is perfect for creative adults and older teens (recommended 16 years and over) who enjoy detailed craftwork and want to explore the colorful and sustainable art of glass mosaics. Spectators are welcome to observe the creative process.
Activity Details
The workshop runs over two full days, Saturday 18 April and Sunday 19 April 2026, from 09:00 to 16:00 each day. It is held at the Queensland Museum Cobb+Co, located at 27 Lindsay St, Toowoomba City.
Participants will receive personalized instruction from Catherine Conaty, a stained-glass mosaic artist with over 25 years of experience. The class size is limited to ensure individual attention and support throughout the creative process.
