Immerse yourself in nature and make a real difference by volunteering with Gordons Bay Bushcare. This dedicated group has transformed a once weed-infested area into a thriving coastal heath reserve with stunning views. It’s a rewarding way to connect with the environment and meet like-minded community members.
Expect hands-on activities like maintenance weeding and planting indigenous species to support local biodiversity. Whether you’re new to bushcare or experienced, you’ll find the work fulfilling and impactful.
This is a perfect opportunity for parents looking to engage with nature and contribute to preserving local green spaces for future generations.
The group meets monthly on the first Friday from 09:00 to 12:00, providing a consistent chance to get involved without a huge time commitment. The program runs until 4 December 2026, allowing you to plan ahead and join as often as you like.
Volunteers work alongside Council’s Bushcare Officers who provide guidance and support throughout the activities. No prior experience is necessary, just a willingness to get your hands dirty and learn.
Please wear sturdy shoes, sun protection, and bring water to stay hydrated during the morning sessions.
The Bushcare site is accessed via Major Street, Coogee, offering a beautiful coastal setting for your volunteer work. The area is easily reachable by car or public transport, making it convenient for families living in Randwick and surrounding suburbs.
Parking is available nearby, and the terrain is suitable for most fitness levels, though some light walking on uneven ground is expected.
This location provides a peaceful outdoor environment that is perfect for a morning of meaningful activity surrounded by nature.
