Dive into the vibrant world of graphic novels, comics, and manga with other young readers who share your passion. This club is a welcoming space where kids aged 8 to 12 can chat about their favorite stories, recommend new reads, and express their creativity.
Each session offers a relaxed atmosphere complete with drinks and snacks, making it a perfect after-school activity. There are no set texts, so participants can bring whatever graphic novels or comics they love or have created themselves.
The club also features a creative drawing and art segment at the end of every meeting, encouraging budding artists to showcase their talents and explore new ideas.
The Graphic Novel Club meets monthly at two locations: St Kilda Library on the third Wednesday and Emerald Hill Library on the fourth Wednesday, both from 16:00 to 17:00.
This program is designed specifically for children aged 8 to 12 and does not run during school holidays, ensuring it fits well with the school calendar.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own graphic novels, comics, or manga to discuss and share, fostering a community of young readers and creators.
Sessions take place at St Kilda Library and Emerald Hill Library, both accessible venues within the City of Port Phillip.
The event is wheelchair accessible, and the organisers are happy to accommodate any additional needs to ensure all children can enjoy the club fully.
For any special requirements, parents are encouraged to contact the library ahead of time.
Please note that the club does not operate during school holidays, so check the library calendar before planning to attend.
Registration is required to join the club, helping organisers manage numbers and prepare materials.
Parents can contact the library by phone for any questions or to discuss accessibility needs.
Participation in the Graphic Novel Club is free of charge.
Registration can be completed online through the library's website to secure a spot.
No prior experience with graphic novels or comics is necessary—just a love for reading and creativity is all you need to join in.
