This guided walk offers a wonderful opportunity to explore coastal bushland, mangroves, beaches, and rocky shores while learning about the local environment and wildlife.

What to Expect

Enjoy a gentle walk suitable for all ages along flat grass tracks or sandy paths. You will have the chance to observe local birdlife and beach creatures in their natural habitats. The guide will share insights into the natural and cultural heritage of the park, pointing out special spots and explaining the ecology of the area. This is a perfect activity for families and nature lovers wanting to deepen their appreciation of this beautiful coastal park.

Activity Details

The walk lasts approximately 1.5 hours, running from 08:15 to 09:45 with arrival recommended by 08:05. It is rated as medium accessibility but easy grade, suitable for children and adults alike. Participants will walk short distances and may squat or reach to examine natural objects. Children under 5 attend free, and all children must be accompanied by an adult guardian. Please wear enclosed shoes and bring a hat, sunscreen, and drinking water.

Location and Access

The meeting point is Bonnie Vale campground, located within Royal National Park. This scenic riverside area is surrounded by tidal flats and offers easy access to mangrove tracks and nearby shoreline depending on the tides. Park entry fees apply, and there are multiple payment options including the Park’nPay app and visitor centre stations. The park is open daily from 07:00 to 20:30.

Bookings are required and can be made by phone or online. The walk is subject to weather conditions and park alerts, so please check current information before attending. Children must be supervised at all times. The walk is designed to be family-friendly and educational, promoting respect for the natural environment and cultural heritage of the area.

Booking and Prices

The cost is $10 per adult, $8 concession, $5 for children aged 5 to 16, and free for children under 5. Family passes are available for $20 (2 adults and 2 children or 1 adult and 3 children).
