What to Expect

Join an expert NPWS guide for a 2 to 5 km walk along a mix of surfaces including unsealed paths with some uneven terrain and gentle gradients. Along the shady route following the Hacking River, you may spot yellow-tailed black cockatoos, echidnas, lyrebirds, kingfishers, and wallabies. The guide will share fascinating insights about the diverse plants, animals, and environments that make this park so special.

Activity Details

The walks run on selected Fridays in January and Thursdays in April, July, and October 2025, starting promptly at 09:30 with arrival recommended by 09:20. The walk lasts approximately 2.5 hours. It is suitable for all ages, with children under 5 admitted free but must be accompanied by an adult. Enclosed shoes, a hat, sunscreen, and drinking water are recommended for comfort and safety.

Location and Access

Meet at the front entrance of the Royal National Park Visitor Centre at Audley, located on Lady Carrington Drive. The park is accessible with some uneven terrain and changes in gradient. A Hippocamp mobility device is available on request for those needing assistance. Park entry fees apply separately.

Important Information

Bookings are essential and can be made by phone or online. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over 18 years. The walk is graded easy but involves walking on natural surfaces. Please prepare for weather conditions and bring necessary sun protection and water. The Royal National Park is open from 07:00 to 20:30 but may close due to weather or fire danger.

Booking and Prices

Adult tickets cost $20, concessions $15, children aged 5 to 16 $10, and children under 5 are free. Family tickets (2 adults and 2 children or 1 adult and 3 children) are $45.
