What to Expect
Step into a vibrant celebration of Indigenous culture through the eyes of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. This exhibition showcases their artistic interpretations of the seven Wurundjeri seasons, reflecting deep connections to nature, stars, and life cycles.
You will discover a rich tapestry of artworks created during the Future Aspirations Camp, where students aged 11 to 19 engaged in a unique art workshop guided by Aboriginal artist Deone West. Each piece tells a story of culture, connection, and Country.
This is a wonderful opportunity for families to learn about Indigenous knowledge systems and appreciate the creativity of young artists from across Victoria.
Activity Details
The exhibition features 18 collaborative artworks inspired by the Wurundjeri seven-season calendar: Biderap (dry), Luk (eel), Waring (wombat), Guling (orchid), Poorneet (tadpole), Buarth Gurru (grass flowering), and Garrawang (kangaroo-apple).
These works were created at Swinburne’s Moondani Vocational Centre of Excellence during a camp that combined cultural education with artistic expression.
