Come and meet James from the Killara Foundation, your go-to person for job support and community service referrals tailored specifically for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. This welcoming service is designed to empower you with the skills and connections needed to find meaningful work and access essential support.
You can expect friendly, one-on-one assistance with resume writing, job searching, mentoring, and coaching. James also offers referrals to vital services such as NDIS, food banks, and accommodation support. Whether you prefer in-person chats, online sessions, or phone calls, help is accessible and culturally sensitive.
Sessions are held at Port Melbourne on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:00 to 12:00, and at St Kilda on Wednesdays and Fridays from 13:00 to 15:00. This service is free and open to all First Nations people seeking employment guidance and community connections.
Meetings take place at Port Phillip libraries in Port Melbourne and St Kilda, easily accessible by public transport. The libraries provide a supportive environment with resources such as computers and Wi-Fi to assist your job search and application process.
This initiative is run by the Killara Foundation, which supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with recruitment, cultural understanding, and housing support. James Williams, the Community Engagement Officer, is your contact for personalised assistance.
No booking is required for these sessions, and the service is completely free. Feel free to drop in during the scheduled times or contact James directly for more information or to arrange a different time.
