Kids can become Junior Rangers when they visit Royal National Park these school holidays. This program offers a unique opportunity for children to connect with nature, learn about environmental protection, and have fun through hands-on activities designed especially for ages 6 to 12.

What to Expect

Children will enjoy a variety of interactive and guided activities that teach them about sustainability, nature, and the important role of Park Rangers. They will participate in nature games, craft with natural materials, and learn survival and navigation skills. The program fosters environmental leadership and a deeper appreciation for the Australian bush.

Activity Details

The tours run on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11:00 to 12:30. The 2025 dates are 22, 23, 29, 30 January; 16, 17, 23, 24 April; 9, 10, 16, 17 July; and 1, 2, 8, 9 October. Activities include the Creativity in Nature program and Ranger Skills program, each offered on specific dates. The program is easy grade, suitable for children aged 6-12, with activities on flat ground and some short walking.

Location and Access

Meet at Ironbark Flat picnic area at Audley within Royal National Park. The park is accessible with easy terrain for children. Visitors should bring drinking water, hats, sunscreen, sturdy shoes, and suitable clothing. The park is open from 07:00 to 20:30, with possible closures due to weather or fire danger.

Important Information

Adults must accompany all children and entry fees apply. Park entry is $12 per vehicle per day, with additional charges for larger vehicles. Students on educational programs have discounted fees. Bookings are required and can be made by phone or online. The program emphasizes safety and environmental education.

The cost is $15 per child aged 6 to 12. Adults attend free but must accompany children. Bookings are essential and can be made by calling 1300 072 757 or online. Entry fees to the park are separate and payable at various points including the Audley Visitor Centre and via the Park’nPay app.
