If your child loves drawing, painting, and creating, this Kids Club workshop series at the Art Gallery of New South Wales is the perfect opportunity to explore art in a fun and engaging way. Over five weeks, children will respond to different artworks from the Gallery’s collection, guided by an experienced art educator. Each session promises a unique creative experience with various art materials and techniques, resulting in a special artwork to take home.
Each week focuses on a different theme inspired by artworks in the Gallery’s collection. Children will learn simple art techniques such as perspective, blending, collage, and sculpture while exploring stories and cultures behind the art. The sessions are fully supervised, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for your child to express their creativity. All materials are provided, so just bring your child’s enthusiasm!
The workshops run on Sundays from 2 August to 20 September 2026, with two sessions available each day at 10:30 AM and 1:30 PM. Themes include creating landscapes with oil pastels, inventing hero characters inspired by Hindu mythology, making animal mosaics, celebrating spring with still life drawings, and building futuristic city sculptures using recycled materials. Each session lasts approximately 1.5 hours.
The workshops take place at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, located on Art Gallery Road, The Domain, Sydney NSW 2000. Sessions are held in the Naala Nura building on the Ground level (Function room) and the Naala Badu building on Lower level 2 (Meers Hall). Please note that from 22 June to October 2026, the lift connecting the Naala Nura building Ground Floor with Lower Level 3 is out of service, but Lower Level 3 remains accessible via escalator. Assistance is available for visitors with accessibility needs.
Kids Club is exclusively for Art Gallery members. Membership is required to book and attend these workshops, which are a special benefit for members. If you are not yet a member, joining is easy and unlocks access to these creative sessions. For any access enquiries, contact the Visitor Experience team. Bookings are essential and can be made by calling 02 9225 1878. The cost per workshop is $35 for members, or you can book the full series of five workshops for $155. Morning and afternoon sessions are available, and places fill quickly, so early booking is recommended to secure your preferred time slot.
