Kids aged 8 to 14 will engage in a meaningful and rewarding experience by preparing nutritious meals and essential care packs for people experiencing homelessness or financial hardship. This activity not only fosters empathy but also provides a practical way for children to contribute positively to their community.
Throughout the sessions, children will gain insight into the challenges faced by vulnerable populations and discover the various ways their community supports those in need. It’s an enriching opportunity that combines learning with active giving.
This program is ideal for young participants looking to build community service hours, including those required for school, International Baccalaureate (IB), and Duke of Edinburgh awards.
The program runs over two days at two different locations: 28 and 29 September at Manly Youth & Community Centre, and 6 and 7 October at Seaforth Village Community Centre. Each day runs from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm.
Participants should bring nut-free food for the day, a drink, and wear closed-toe, rubber-soled shoes to ensure safety and comfort during activities.
This is a kids-only, drop-off program, allowing parents some free time while their children engage in this valuable community service.
The first sessions take place at Manly Youth & Community Centre, located on Kangaroo Street, Manly NSW 2095. The later sessions are held at Seaforth Village Community Centre, 550 Sydney Road, Seaforth.
Both venues are accessible and well-equipped to host children for a full day of activities. Parents can easily drop off and pick up their children at the scheduled times.
Public transport options and parking are available nearby, making access convenient for families across the Northern Beaches.
The cost to participate is $100 per child, covering all materials and meals prepared during the program.
Children must bring their own nut-free snacks and drinks to ensure safety for all participants.
Closed-toe, rubber-soled shoes are mandatory to maintain safety standards during food preparation and packing activities.
