This engaging event is designed especially for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their families who are enrolled in kindergarten for 2027. It offers a welcoming space to gather essential resources and connect with community services that support early childhood education.
Families will receive kindergarten essentials packs including backpacks, hats, and lunch boxes to help prepare their little ones for the exciting start of school. The event also provides opportunities to meet with local council enrolment teams and support services.
You can expect a warm, supportive environment where questions about health checks, childcare subsidies, and community programs are answered by knowledgeable professionals.
The event is scheduled for Friday, 2 October 2026, from 15:00 to 18:00. It is free to attend and open to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families with children starting kindergarten in 2027.
Several community organisations will be present, including VACCA, Koling Wada Ngal, BADAC, and Maternal Child and Health services. Yarn Strong Sista will also join to provide cultural support and engagement.
Families are encouraged to register their interest by Monday, 28 September 2026, to ensure participation and receive all available resources.
